DIY A Candle Vessel into A Plant Pot

A monthly series that features all things behind the scenes at The DIME Store.

We’re switching things up for Behind The DIME this month and featuring a DIY project we love!!

You know when your favorite DIME signature candle is almost out and you are left with an empty candle vessel? The vessels we use are so beautiful and we don’t want them to end up in the trash! We’re gonna show you how to take your empty vessel and turn it into a pot for your favorite little plant!

WHAT YOU NEED:
- 1 nearly empty DIME Signature 11 oz. candle

- 1 diamond drill bit and drill

- 1 plant and soil of choice

Step 1: When you’re left with about an inch or so of wax in your candle, freeze the jar and wax, then scoop out remaining wax with a spoon, remove the wick and clean inside and outside of vessel/

Step 2: Using a diamond drill bit, drill one water drainage hole on the bottom of the candle jar. **Note: Do not force the drill bit down into the jar. Just let it slowly work - it can take 3-5 minutes to drill the hole.

(If you don’t have a drill you can skip that step and simply place a plastic plant container into the emptied candle vessel!)

Step 3: Fill jar with soil and your plant of choice. Display your new plant + planter creation! :)

And thank you for reading this issue of Behind the DIME. :)
