Join us for a hands-on introduction to natural dyeing with Shelley Christner, our founder and longtime friend. In this immersive workshop, you’ll explore the beautiful, intuitive process of flower pounding—also known as tataki zome or hapa zome.

Using a vibrant selection of fresh flowers, you’ll design and create your own one-of-a-kind 100% cotton bandana to take home. Along the way, we’ll cover the essentials of natural dyeing, from fabric preparation to sustainable practices, giving you the confidence to continue experimenting with color using accessible, natural materials.

Students will leave with:

• A naturally dyed cotton bandana, created by you

• Fundamental knowledge of flower based dye techniques

• An introduction to sustainable dye practices

• Inspiration and confidence to keep exploring natural color on your own

Shelley Christner is a dreamer, forager, community encourager, instigator of creativity, maker of things for heart and home and a lover of all things cozy, she also is the founder The DIME Store. After passing the leadership of DIME in 2021, she has pursued her love of the beauty of nature through foraging color and creating processes and products that display its power to inspire and heal our weary souls.
