Join us as we demystify patterns! We will be going over the basics of how to read a sewing pattern. We will explore grain lines, pattern symbols, how to choose your fabric and notions for each pattern, and how to measure yourself for your patterns. You may bring a pattern of your choice to go over in this class, or one will be provided for you in class. You are also welcome to bring fabric with you, but that is not required. This is the perfect time to bring all of your questions, as we will not be sewing in this class, just covering patterns! We will be going over Simplicity, Vogue, McCalls, and Butterwick patterns. What you will learn from these patterns can easily transition to indie patterns from Etsy or other retailers.

Please include your sewing pattern sizing at checkout so that we can ensure to provide inclusive pattern options. Refer to the sizing chart in the listing photos for guidance. If you need help learning your measurements, you can watch this video.

Meet Your Instructor:
This workshop is taught by Denton's Digital Seamstress, Lillia Whittington. Lillia is a Denton-based influencer who uses her love of sewing to educate the Denton community and online audiences about sewing. She has been sewing since she was 4 years old, and graduated in 2018 with her BA in Fashion Design. She has worked for Bailey's Blossoms and Haggar Clothing Co. as a technical designer, developing patterns and fits across both brands prior to COVID-19. After she was furloughed, she began blogging full-time under the name The D. Diaries. Now, Lillia has rebranded to cover her favorite topics of sustainable living and sewing on Just Lillia. Lillia is currently a TA at TWU in their fashion program, runs a sewing school in Denton, and can be found on weekends with friends, family, her husband, and her blind cat, Toph.
