Build your sketchbook practice and loosen up your creativity in this relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop led by Manal!

In this class, we’ll focus on quick, expressive sketching techniques using pencil and ink to break down simple compositions. You’ll learn how to capture what you see without overthinking—perfect for anyone who feels intimidated by drawing or wants to sketch more freely.

Using reference photos inspired by everyday outdoor scenes, we’ll practice turning quick gestures into finished sketches. From there, you’ll add watercolor to bring your pages to life, learning how to layer color in a loose, approachable way. We’ll also explore small finishing touches with white ink to add highlights and detail.

This workshop is all about building confidence, experimenting, and developing a sketchbook habit. No painting or drawing experience needed.

By the end of class, you’ll leave with several completed sketchbook pages and techniques you can continue practicing anywhere.

Meet Your Instructor:

Manal is a watercolor artist living in Denton, Texas. She received her degree in Communication Design from the University of North Texas. She has always had a passion for fine art and her creative journey led her to watercolor in the last 5 years. She’s an active member of the Southwestern Watercolor Society and has been teaching watercolor workshops for the last 2 years. Manal loves the spontaneous nature of watercolor and enjoys sharing the fun medium with others.
